OpenLinq is operated by Vantar Group LLC, a US limited liability company. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to Vantar Group LLC.

2. What data we collect

We collect only what's necessary to run the service:

  • ·Email address — for authentication and (if you opt in) notifications
  • ·Username — publicly displayed on your submissions and comments
  • ·Profile image — if you sign in with a provider that supplies one (e.g. Google, GitHub)
  • ·Content you submit — article URLs, titles, comments, and "why it matters" notes
  • ·Votes you cast — to compute article scores
  • ·Referral relationships — to credit reputation when someone joins via your invite link
  • ·Basic usage logs — standard server logs including IP address and timestamps, retained for up to 30 days

3. How we use your data

  • ·To provide and operate the OpenLinq service
  • ·To send transactional emails (welcome email, comment notifications, weekly digest) — you can opt out of digest emails by contacting us
  • ·To prevent abuse and enforce community guidelines
  • ·We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party infrastructure:

  • ·Neon (neon.tech) — PostgreSQL database hosting, including authentication
  • ·Vercel — web hosting and CDN
  • ·Amazon Web Services SES — transactional email delivery

Each provider has their own privacy policy and data processing terms. We share only the minimum necessary data with each service.

5. Data retention and deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, all submitted articles, comments, and votes from our database. Server logs are purged within 30 days.

6. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via joshwagenbach.com or delete your account directly from Settings.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify registered users by email and update the "last updated" date above.
